DREXEL HILL, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say two children reportedly taken from a Philadelphia-area home after a woman was slain have been found safe in a convenience store in New York City.
Police in Delaware County’s Upper Darby Township said they are still looking for 32-year-old Keith Belajonas, who is a suspect in the slaying at a residence in Abbey Terrace in Drexel Hill.
Neighbors said they heard a loud argument and then a shot, and officers said they found a woman in her 30s dead with gunshot and possible stabbing injuries.
Superintendent Michael Chitwood told reporters that one of the children was heard to ask “Is Mommy dead?”
New York City police Lt. Thomas Antonetti says the “individual in the Amber Alert” dropped the children at a CVS on Staten Island around 6 a.m. Thursday and left. He said the children were taken to a hospital to be checked but they “are OK,” he said. Police said the man is still being sought.
