SHAWNEE COUNTY (KSNT) – Final numbers have been tallied in the race between two Republican candidates hoping for a seat in the Kansas House of Representatives.
The Shawnee County Board of Canvassers met Monday morning to go over the more than 250 provisional ballots in the race for the 50th district seat. Unofficial totals from last Tuesday’s Primary Election had challenger Fred Patton leading incumbent Josh Powell by only 64 votes.
After the dust settled, the final tally was 1,698 to 1,636, a margin of 62 votes, still in favor of Patton. He will now face Democrat Chris Huntsman in the General Election.
