WABUNSEE COUNTY (KSNT) – Three women were hospitalized Monday night when a railing they were leaning on collapsed, sending them plummeting about 20-feet to the ground.
According to Wabunsee CountySheriff Doug Howser, the women were part of a party of seven people who were posing for a picture on a porch attached to a private home at 2577 Sunflower Rd. in Paxico.
The railing they were leaning against failed, sending all seven to the ground about 20-feet below.
Howser says two of the women were taken to Stormont-Vail hospital in Topeka, the third was brought to St. Francis hospital in Topeka. None of the injuries are said to be life-threatening.
Howser adds first responders from Paxico/Newbury as well as two ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
The cause of the failure is still being investigated.
