TOPEKA (KSNT) – A local business in downtown Topeka announced Tuesday that they will be closing. Kansas Avenue Market said in a statement that the construction in downtown Topeka has proved to be very taxing on the store and is the reason they have decided to close.
They also included that they had a good run and can see good things happening in downtown but unfortunately the construction put a damper on the amount of customers coming in the store making it hard for them to make ends meet.
Anje Kearney says she implores Topekans to go out of their way to support local downtown businesses even after they are gone, saying they need the support to survive.
Kearney says they will continue to support the downtown project and be advocates for the community.
The projected ending date is set to be on September 1, 2014.
