Topeka students head back to school

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The summer fun is over and it’s time for students to hit the books.

Topeka School District Superintendent Dr. Julie Ford welcomed students back to school at Highland Park Central Elementary Wednesday morning.

Freshmen also begin classes Wednesday, other high school students and middle school students will start their school year Thursday.   Auburn-Washburn students began classes Wednesday, other districts in the county have staggered starts but all will be in session by Friday.

The Topeka Public School District is the largest in the county, serving nearly 14, 000 students.
