SHAWNEE COUNTY (KSNT) – Shawnee County Commissioners say they will have a decision about the Abbott Community Center by the end of the month.
At Thursday’s meeting, commissioners committed to an August 31st deadline.
For more than an hour the body heard proposals from five organizations hoping to run the facility at 1112 Southeast 10th street.
The center closed down a year ago when the county ended a 110,000 dollar contract with Community First Inc.
The county recently leased the facility rent-free for the summer to faith and hard work ministries.
It runs a free lunch program for about 80 kids.
