Engstrom sentenced to prison time

The 36-year-old wife of the gunman who killed one man and wounded a woman in a shooting in Topeka has been sentenced to 14 years and one month in prison.

Jamie Engstrom was sentenced Friday for conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and other charges.

It’s in the February 2013 death of 34-year-old Ricky Mitchell of Topeka and the wounding of 28-year-old Bridget Gakle of Topeka.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports her Kansas sentences will run concurrently with sentences in Nebraska, where she and her husband, Michael Dean Engstrom, were captured after a shootout with law enforcement officers the same day as the Topeka shootings.
