TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Kansas National Education Association Tuesday through it’s political clout behind Democratic challenger Margie Wakefield in the 2nd Congressional District race.
Wakefield is running against incumbent Republican Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins in November’s general election.
In making the endorsement, the state’s largest teacher’s union noted Wakefield’s position on education issues making her “a clear choice.”
“Margie Wakefield has an infectious energy for tackling difficult issues ,” says KNEA President Mark Farr “while leaning on the expertise and experience of educators, parents, and citizens who are the true stakeholders ensuring a quality public school experience for every Kansas child.”
The union says it bases its recommendations based on a “member-driven process of interviewing and vetting candidates through KPAC (Kansas NEA Political Action Committee).”
