SILVER LAKE (KSNT) – The football tradition at Silver Lake is second to none. The Eagles have the most playoff wins for any team in Kansas and they’re coming off their 8th state championship in school history.
“The process is the same,” Silver Lake head coach C.J. Hamilton said. “We have to figure out our identity, what players can do for us and what we can do for them.”
The Eagles have a challenging schedule outside of the Mid-East League with Holton, Perry-Lecompton and Winfield.
“It’s going to be fun with the first game vs Holton,” Silver Lake senior wide receiver Jace Freeman said. “The matchup everybody has been waiting for. It’s going to be fun to see.”
Silver Lake demolished Beloit In last year’s state championship game with a 82-38 victory.
“It’s the best feeling in the world to be a state champion,” Silver Lake senior running back/linebacker Zach Boyd said. “Everyone wants to be one but you have to work hard, come to practice every day prepared and it all starts right here all the way until November.”
The Eagles certainly have a target on their back but they’ve never ones to back down from a challenge.
“Everybody wants to beat you, they bring their best game for you and it’s our toughest game every week,” Freeman said.
