Health advisory lifted for Wanamaker Creek.

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The City of Topeka says the health advisory for Wanamaker Creek and Deer Creek last week has been lifted.

The advisory pertained to Wanamaker Creek north of I-70 to the Kansas River.

The advisory for Deer Creek between southeast 29th and southeast 21st Streets, specifically in Dornwood Park was lifted on Thursday August 21st.

A city spokesperson said an unknown amount of sewage leaked into the creek on Wednesday afternoon. In a release, the city says there was a blockage in a sanitary sewage interceptor. Crews are working to remove the blockage.

In Wanamaker Creek, an unknown amount of sewage leaked into the creek Wednesday morning due to pipe break at the Wanamaker sanitary pumping station. Crews are working to repair the break.

Testing results have shown that the monitored parameters have returned to background levels.
