Check welfare leads to drug arrests

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Riley County officers responded to 819 Anneberg Circle in Manhattan for a check welfare after a citizen reported two individuals “passed out” in a vehicle.

Officers made contact with the two individuals and a subsequent drug investigation ensued.  At the conclusion of the investigation 29-year old Leon F. Houk of Manhattan was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, while 26-year old Alexandria M. Furman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Houk and Furman are both currently being held at the Riley County Jail in lieu of a $16,000 and $6,000, respectively.
