Manhattan police conduct MIC/MIP saturation patrol


MANHATTAN, KAN. – On Saturday August 16, 2014, the Riley County Police Department conducted a MIP/MIC Saturation Patrol. Officers involved in the Saturation Patrol were enforcing alcohol laws related to underage drinking and taking appropriate enforcement action. As a result of the patrol 9 citations for MIP were given, 4 citations for open container, 1 citation for pedestrian under the influence in a roadway and 1 citation for urinating in public were issued. Officers made a total of 45 contacts throughout the duration of the patrol.

The purpose of this program is to place additional officers in and around the Manhattan area with the goal of identifying underage alcohol consumption. This patrol was the first, in a series of four patrols which will be conducted this year and is paid for by the Manhattan Area Risk Prevention Coalition.
