HOYT (KSNT) – Royal Valley football received rough results over the past few seasons. The Panthers went winless last year and bring a new attitude for the upcoming campaign.
Former Seaman product and Emporia State football player Jake Lott takes over the Royal Valley program.
“We’re just trying to be positive and build,” Lott said. “We have a long way to go from last year and we’re trying to erase that. The kids are responding to what we’re doing.
The squad faces a new set of district opponents: Perry-Lecompton, Jeff West and Holton.
“It’s all about coming back from last season and putting some wins on the record this year,” Royal Valley senior wide receiver/linebacker Matthew Bailey said. “Not repeating anything, work harder and win more.”
Each of the past four seasons the team’s win total went down.
“It was really a big disappointment to our community and I really want to change that and get things back on track,” Royal Valley senior offensive/defensive lineman Tristan Tessendorf said.
The Panthers have only one way to go and that’s up.
“Hopefully we can prove to everybody that we’re going to at least be better than what everybody thinks we are,” Royal Valley offensive/defensive lineman Chance Ogden said. “Just go out there and win every single game we have.”
Royal Valley opens the season at home against Abilene.
