Storms knock out power in SW Topeka

Westar Energy crews tend to power line in SW Topeka Monday morning (Rocky Arnold - Kansas First News)

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Rain and wind caused power to go out early Monday morning for several hundred Westar Energy customers.

As of 6:30 Monday morning, about 650 customers were without power in Shawnee County, sending utility crews out to repair damaged lines. Power was back on to all customers by mid morning

The wind also caused tree damage in Topeka, areas in southwest Topeka and the Oakland neighborhood reported trees down in their yards or completely blocking a street.

Rainfall reports varied with anywhere from a half inch to 2 or 3 inches in some parts of northeast Kansas.
