RCPD reaches out to students with Twitter

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Riley County Police Department held a Q & A with Kansas State University students on Monday.

They answered questions on Twitter about laws, RCPD and the department’s involvement in the community.

The Monday afternoon session was aimed specifically at incoming K-State students but anyone could ask a question.

The officer who answered the questions says he tried to keep it equally “light-hearted” and “informational.”

“Along with answering the questions that we’re receiving on Twitter, I’m also sending out information on how to stay safe like walking in groups staying on well lit paths and things like that.” said RCPD Officer Matthew Droge.

Droge says the department hopes the social media session makes officers more approachable.
