LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Lawrence police say they’ll begin their crackdown on holiday drunk drivers Friday night.
Police officers will be running a DUI check lane at undisclosed locations throughout the city from 10 p.m. Friday night through 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
The effort is part of the “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose” enforcement campaign announced earlier last week by local police jurisdictions and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The program is funded in part with a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
According to the latest statistics, KDOT says Kansas averages four persons injured every day, and one person killed every three days, in alcohol related accidents..
