TOPEKA (KSNT) – The City of Topeka has cancelled the Tuesday, September 9th council meeting.
The meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 23rd in the wake of the killing of Topeka Police Department Corporal Jason Harwood (photo) Sunday evening.
Additionally, the American Red Cross’ “Ride for the Red” motorcycle fundraiser originally scheduled for Saturday morning has been postponed to a date not yet determined.
The 2014 Emergency Services Showcase has been rescheduled to Saturday September 20th from 1-4pm in the parking lot of the Kansas Expocentre. Harwood had previously attended several of the showcases while working as a K-9 officer for the Topeka Police Department.
It’s anticipated funeral services for Harwood will be held Saturday, although a time and location have not yet been announced.
With the pending funeral services, the Topeka RoadRunners hockey team has rescheduled its Saturday game against Corpus Christi to Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
The Race Against Breast Cancer is changing the date of our annual 5K Run/Walk from Saturday, September 13 to Saturday, October 25th.
