HOLTON (KSNT) – Community members are holding a walk to raise money for Fragile X on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 5 p.m. at Rafter’s Park in Holton.
There is no fee to participate. Free will donations support the Kansas Fragile X Community Service Network.
The organization provides resources to local families, hosts educational conferences, and sends local families to Advocacy Day in Washington D.C.
Rhein and Rhett Murphy are brothers with Fragile X. With the help of their classmates, they started a walking team called “Rhein & Rhett’s Runners.”
According to their mom Christina Murphy, almost 100 people showed up last year for their Holton walk, and they raised more than $1,000 for the Fragile X Community Service Network.
She said, “It does wonders for Rhein and Rhett to see so many people show up that support them and care about them.”
Murphy said there is no need to pre-register. Show up at the volleyball courts at Rafter’s Park in Holton on Sunday at 5 p.m.
