MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Manhattan Town Center mall will soon be losing one of its three major anchor stores. SEARS corporation has chosen not to renew or renegotiate its lease with the mall. The mall currently has three major anchor stores, SEARS, JC Penney and Dillards. The mall General Manager Allen Raynor tells Kansas First News they are disappointed to lose such a well known name but are looking forward to a new store they can bring in. It is expected that SEARS will be closed by Dec. 7th at this point there is no announced replacement for it.
In the meantime as the mall loses one store, they are gaining six more Raynor says.
The mall is will be adding a Go Spa and Bounce and Play Zone, which will both be located in the JC Penney wing. While a Famous Footwear will also be added to the mall and will open in Dillard’s wing.
In addition a Toys R U’s, Hickory Farm and Go! Calendars will also be joining the mall.
As the holiday season is just around the corner Nell’s Sweets will also open as one of its holiday, seasonal stores.
