TOPEKA, Kan.(KSNT)- At 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Topeka Police Officers attempted to stop a black Chevrolet suburban for erratic driving at 1st and I70. The driver ELMER J. MCFADDEN JR initiated a vehicle pursuit westbound onto I 70. Topeka Police Officers along with the assistance of Shawnee County Sheriff Deputies pursued the vehicle west on I70 into Shawnee County and then into Wabaunsee County. Wabaunsee County Sheriffs Deputies were able to deploy tire deflating stop sticks across the roadway with the suspect striking them flattening the vehicle two front tires.
Mr. McFadden stopped his vehicle as the tires were deflated and the pursuit was terminated between mile marker 328 and 327 on West Bound I 70. Mr. McFadden was the only occupant of the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident at the conclusion of the pursuit. He was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections for Felony Elude, Reckless driving, Turn signal required, Fail to maintain a single lane of traffic, Speeding, and driving on a sidewalk.
