Two hospitalized in Topeka collision

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Two women were taken to local hospitals after their cars collided on SW Wanamaker Tuesday night.

Topeka Police say the accident happened about 8:20 p.m. when a car driven by 66-year old Barbara DeBaere of Topeka struck a car driven by 24-year old Megan Hansen of Auburn head on.

The accident happened just south of the roundabout at 4100 SW Wanamaker.

Police say for some reason the Chrysler driven by DeBaere was going north on Wanamaker when left the roadway, recovered then crossed the center line striking Hansen’s vehicle.

Both women were taken to local hospitals, neither had injuries considered life-threatening.

Police haven’t determined the cause, but are investigating whether a medical condition might have contributed to DeBaere’s vehicle leaving the road.
