Crews respond to morning accident east of Silver Lake

SHAWNEE COUNTY (KSNT) – The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to an accident just before 9:30 Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around the 6800 block of U.S. Highway 24, right outside the Kansas First News studios involving a 1998 Saturn that ended up in a ditch with the hood and the front windshield smashed and a 2014 Jeep.


The Kansas Highway Patrol says the driver of the Jeep was heading west, had slowed down to turn left when the driver of the Saturn did not slow down and rear ended the Jeep, sending the Saturn into the ditch.

The Driver of the Saturn was identified as Scott Edward Ingram Jr., 19, of Elwood. He was taken by AMR to a Stormont Vail Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Ingram was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Jeep was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
