Topeka man pleads guilty to robbing Wendy’s restaurant

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka man pleaded guilty to robbing a Wendy’s restaurant in August, then jumping into a getaway car driven by his daughter.

37 year old George Christopher Walton, Jr pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of robbery and one count of using a firearm during that robbery.

The robbery happened August 4, 2014 at the Wendy’s at 728 SW Topeka Blvd. Walton, dressed in black and wearing a mask, demanded cash from the register while “brandishing” a gun, then fled.

Walton’s getaway car was driven by his daughter, Tashaun Desanic Walton, who is a co-defendant in the case. Police chased the car for several minutes before it stopped and Walton jumped out, only to be captured a short while later.

Formal sentencing will be on January 26th, but as part of the plea agreement Walton will spend 84 months in federal prison.

Tashaun Walton has a plea hearing set for November 3rd.
