TOPEKA (KSNT) – Topeka firefighters went above and beyond at what at first seemed to be a routine house fire Friday afternoon.
The fire was initially reported about 3:45 Friday afternoon at 315 SW Quinton Ave.
When firefighters arrived, they found a minor blaze in the house which was quickly extinguished.
But smoke from the fire made things difficult for two puppies living in the home, and firefighters used their air backpacks to help the puppies.
No one was injured in the fire, which is still under investigation.
Damage has been estimated at about $10,000.
