Topeka fair teaches locals about sustainable living

TOPEKA,Kan.(KSNT)-Topeka based Mother Earth News brings its fair- the only event of its kind in the Midwest- Oct. 25-26 to the Kansas Expocentre. More than 12,000 attendees are expected from across t he country.

More than 150 hands-on workshops will explore self-sufficient and sustainable living practices, growing and preparing “real food”, supporting local food systems, understanding renewable energy options, natural health, homesteading, green building and more. Nationally known experts including Joel Salatin and actor Ed Begley Jr. will present keynotes on broader sustainability issues.

The fair is family-friendly, with children 17 and under getting in free. They’ll also have their own stage of hands-on projects, including milking a dairy goat, starting green seeds and making sauerkraut.
