TOPEKA (KSNT) -Once the Royals take back the crown in Game 7 of the World Series, t-shirts will be hitting the shelves.
But at Academy Sports + Outdoors in Topeka, the T-Shirts will be hitting the shelves the second the Royals take the crown.
“As soon as the game is over, we’re pulling for a Royals win, that way we can be the first to get the product out to the customer,” Joshua Garrett, Store Director, Academy Sports + Outdoors said.
Being prepared for Royals customer has been crucial for sports stores across the state,” It’s unmeasureable, because by the beginning of August it’s full blown chiefs season,” Brett Guthrie
Retail Manager, Jock’s Nitch Sporting Goods said.”It’s definitely been an awesome surprise to be able to sell so much Royals gear this late in the season.”
This is why Academy Sports + Outdoors aren’t taking any chances when it comes to their World Series shirts.
“I have faith that the Royals will pull it out, but worst case scenario we will ship it back to the vendor and they’ll take it from there,” Garrett said.
Turns out not everyone has as much faith, or will be rushing to the stores to buy one of the collectors shirts, “No, no, I don’t think so,” Harold Keneyck said. That’s because Keneyck remembers when the royals won the World Series in 1985, “Well I didn’t like it at the time cause I was a Cardinal fan.”
But after 29 years will Keneyck cave and buy a Royals shirt after all?
“Well I would if they wouldn’t cost too much money–what I’ll probably do is wait till they go on sale,” Keneyck said.
