Kansas Sheriff’s Association honors Shawnee County Sheriff

TOPEKA, Kan.(KSNT)- Shawnee County Sheriff Herman Jones was named Kansas Sheriff of the year. The group also named Jefferson County captain Randy Carreno Deputy of the year at last night’s ceremony.The 24-year veteran was honored for his role for successfully saving the life of a woman who was threatening suicide at Lake Perry.Carreno is a Topeka native and Shawnee Heights graduate.Also at last night’s convention, Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig was named president of the association.
