Veterans Day in the Little Apple


MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The city of Manhattan celebrated Veterans Day Tuesday.

The city held a parade Tuesday morning following a breakfast of biscuits and gravy.

The parade stepped off at Manhattan Town Center and ended at city park and included soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division, the 1st Infantry Division Band and about 2,000 children from area schools.

According to the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs Tuesday’s date became a federal holiday in 1938, and was celebrated as Armistice Day until 1954 when it was renamed by congress as Veterans Day.
