BELVUE (KSNT) – Kansas First News now knows a little more about what led to the death of a Belvue man earlier this month.
Thirty-six-year old Christopher Arand has been charged with first degree murder and felony cruelty to animals.
The murder charge is in connection to the death of his uncle, 70 year-old Larry Arand on November 10th who was found dead in his home. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Kansas First News, Arand told investigators he struck his uncle several times with brass knuckles to knock him out and then placed a plastic bag over his head to suffocate him. An investigator asked why committed the crime and Arand told investigators “…he’s just old and it was his time to go”.
Arand also told investigators he killed his uncle’s cat by putting it in a plastic bag and slamming it on the floor and stepping on it to finish the job. He also told investigators about “voices” in his head that led to the crime.
His preliminary hearing is set for December 10th. He remains confined on bond.
