2,400 families register for Christmas Bureau; efforts now turn to adoption

TOPEKA,Kan. (KSNT)- With approximately 2,400 families registered for the 2014 United Way Christmas Bureau, efforts now turn toward finding companies, churches, non-profits, and families to adopt them.

Volunteers are busy matching families with adopters. The volunteers do their best to see that the families receive the items on their wish lists, which often include food, coats, hats and gloves in addition to or instead of toys for children. United Way has a family cost table on its Christmas Bureau web page https://www.unitedwaytopeka.org/work/cb/adopt/  to help people determine how large a family they wish to adopt.

Volunteers are already working to match up families with adopters so adopters can contact the families to let them know they have been adopted.

In addition to adopters, donations are also needed to provide gifts for families who are not adopted.
