TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 1732 SW Central Park, shortly after 9:40 Wednesday morning.
First arriving fire crews reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the structure. Fire crews were able to make an interior attack on the fire and it was quickly extinguished. First searches of the residence found no one at home.
The Topeka Fire Department Investigation’s Unit says early investigation indicates the cause of the fire to be unknown at this time and says that no foul play is suspected.
Investigators say three dogs were unable to escape the home and died in the fire.
The Kansas Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to the residence to provide immediate emergency assistance to one adult and child.
