Jayhawk volleyball upset in NCAA first round

Arkansas-Little Rock spoils Kansas volleyball's postseason run in the NCAA Tournament in Topeka.

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Arkansas-Little Rock entered with a 25-match winning streak and the Sun Belt Champions continued that run into the NCAA Tournament as the Trojans upset No. 16 Kansas in a five-set thriller at Landon Arena in Topeka.

The Jayhawks dropped the first set against the Trojans but managed to earn victories in sets two and three. Kansas though lost sets four and five to Arkansas-Little Rock as the Jayhawks couldn’t overcome senior Edina Begic. The Bosnia-Herzegovina native recorded a match-high 27 kills.

Arkansas-Little Rock advances to face Oregon State, who beat Creighton on Friday in four sets, in the NCAA Second Round at Landon Arena on Saturday. First serve is at 6:30 p.m.

Kansas finished the season at (22-9).
