Washburn Tech students build holiday spirit

TOPEKA, Kan.(KSNT)- For the second year in a row, Washburn Tech is turning into Santa’s Workshop to make toys for children in need this holiday season. Washburn Tech Student Government Association  is hosting Toys for Tots Build Day beginning at 8:00 a.m. Saturday in the Cabinet and Mill lab in building L at 5724 S.W. Huntoon St.

Students, technical instructors and volunteers plan to make wooden step stools, hobby horses and yo-yos. Last year, the effort produced more than 550 hand-made toys for local children in need. Volunteers from the public are welcome to participate, however children under fourteen must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone is encouraged to wear something elfish.
