Pedestrian struck and killed off Highway 24 near Manhattan

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office is investigation an accident that left a Manhattan woman dead Sunday.

The Sheriff’s Office tells Kansas First News taht at 12:37 Sunday morning, dispatch received a call of a pedestrian walking on U.S. Highway 24 in the roadway near Dempsey Road. About one minute after the initial call, they received a second call that the pedestrian had been struck by another vehicle.

A Sheriff Deputy arrived on the scene at 12:40 a.m. and located the pedestrian who had been struck by a Ford pickup. The Sheriff’s Office says the pedestirna who is believed to have been walking west, in the eastbound lane of Highway 24 was determined to be killed.

The pedestrian has been identified as 48 year old Angela Ressler of rural Manhattan.

The Sheriff’s Office says at this time, no citations have been issued to the driver of the pickup and the accident continues to be under investigation.
