TOPEKA (KSNT) – After each team traded a pair of goals in the 2nd period it was the home team that prevailed in a shootout on New Year’s Day.
The Topeka RoadRunners (25-6-3) received three-straight goals in the extra session to beat the Wenatchee Wild, 3-2 inside Landon Arena. Topeka scored both of its goals when the teams were not at even strength. Cam Strong capitalized on a short-handed goal to break a scoreless tie. Less than two minutes later Sly Sutter added a power-play goal to give the RoadRunners a 2-0 lead.
The RoadRunners and Wild continue the three-game series on Friday night in Topeka.
