MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Riley County police Saturday released the name of a 19 year old man who drowned Friday night at Tuttle Creek State Park.
The department identified the victim as Michael Tolsdorf of Manhattan.
Spokesman Matthew Droge says police got a 911 call just before 5:30 Friday night that a man had fallen into the water in the river pond at Tuttle Creek State Park north of Manhattan. He says bystanders who had been collecting firewood in the area tried to rescue the man, but failed.
Emergency crews responded, and finally recovered the man’s body about two hours later.
