TOPEKA (KSNT) – After winning in a shootout on New Year’s Day, the Topeka RoadRunners ran out of gas in a 4-2 loss against the Wenatchee Wild. The loss snaps a six-game winning streak for the RoadRunners.
Topeka scored on a power-play goal less than five minutes into the game as Jasen Fernsler gave the RoadRunners an early lead. However, Wenatchee responded in the final two minutes of the first period. The Wild answered with a power-play goal from Colin Burston then Jake Ahlgren added another just 16 seconds later. Ahlgren also sealed the win with an empty net goal in the last minute of the game.
The RoadRunners and Wild conclude the three-game series on Saturday for Star Wars Night.
