Topeka man stabbed during fight Saturday afternoon

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Topeka police one man was hospitalized and a suspect has been “located” in a stabbing Saturday afternoon.

Topeka Police Department spokesman Lt. Ron Gish says officers were called to the 2400 block of S. Kansas Ave about one o’clock to a reported fight.

Witnesses told officers the stabbing occurred during the fight and the victim, identified as 22-year old Mark Bennett of Topeka, was taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle.

The suspect had left the area before officers arrived, but they later located the man, identified by police as 31 year old Shane Kendall of Topeka.

He was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County jail for an outstanding city warrant..

The victim was treated at the hospital and later released.

No names or other details have been released, and the department is not saying at this time whether the suspect has been arrested.
