TOPEKA (KSNT) – An Overbrook man is behind bars in connection with Topeka’s first homicide of the year.
Jail log records show 21 year-old Kelsey Lee Fairchild as being booked into jail just after 11 Tuesday night. He had been taken into custody earlier in the evening as a person of interest. He was being sought for the death of former Seaman High School and current Washburn University student Colton Christenson. Fairchild was booked for murder and assault.
Fairchild was being sought in connection with the shooting death of Christenson, who was shot at some point during an argument with at least one passenger. Police say the shooting was just before 6:00 Monday evening. Christenson was driving the vehicle, which then crashed into the porch of a home at 1708 SW 15th. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
