SHAWNEE, Kan. (AP) — Police say three suspects were wounded by gunfire, and the owner of a gun shop has died in a botched robbery at a suburban Kansas City gun shop.
Shawnee, Kansas, police Maj. Dan Tennis says four people tried to rob She’s A Pistol Friday afternoon. Three were shot. Two of them were critically injured. Another had less-serious wounds and was arrested with the fourth suspect in a residential area nearby.
A man who co-owns the store with his wife also was critically injured by gunfire inside the store. He and the wounded suspects were taken by ambulance for treatment but police said just before 6:00 p.m. 44-year-old John Bieker, the owner, died of his wounds. The female co-owner wasn’t shot but sustained minor injuries to her face.
The uninjured suspect was being held on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
She’s a Pistol caters to female gun owners.
KSHB-TV says since 2011, She’s A Pistol has had a federal firearms license and has a good compliance history. Since 2009 it has had a business license.
