OLATHE, Kan. (AP) – One of the four men charged with first-degree murder in a botched robbery at a Kansas gun shop has made a first court appearance.
The Kansas City Star reported that 18-year-old Hakeem Willie Malik, of Kansas City, Missouri, appeared via closed-circuit television Monday in Johnson County District Court and requested a court-appointed attorney. He is jailed on a $500,000 bond on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of Jon Bieker. The 44-year-old was killed Friday at his Shawnee store, called She’s a Pistol.
