(NBC News) The fans have arrived and the finishing touches are almost complete at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas ahead of tonight’s College Football Playoff championship game.
Oregon and Ohio State will face off in the first NCAA Division One title game determined by the new playoff system.
Even before the kickoff, there is already one clear winner. The championship will bring an economic boost of $300-million or more to the area, and the final financial score will be even higher.
“You take ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorship, marketing rights, advertising you’re looking at a pie that’s probably over a billion dollars,” says Robert Tuchman, president of event organizing specialist Goviva.
