KANSAS CITY (KSNT) – A little Topeka girl continues her recovery after her hair was set on fire by a total stranger on Wednesday.
Six year old Jayden Beddo is at the pediatric ICU of the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Police have still not found the man who set her hair on fire Wednesday afternoon.
She and her brother were playing in their backyard when it happened, leaving Jayden with burns to her scalp and hands.
Topeka police are looking for tips of anyone who might have seen someone in the area.
In a news conference Friday morning, Jayden’s doctors say her recovery is going well, but that she will likely need surgery.
“She has some burns, some of which are third degree,” says Dr. Dhaval Bhavsar “we’ll kind of have to wait some time before we can finalize the surgical decision whether she will need skin grafting in those areas or not. We have been, uhm, kind of assessing those wounds regularly and are continuing to communicate with the family.”
The girl’s uncle says a “go fund me account” account has been set up to help with medical bills. You can contribute if you which by clicking here.
