HOOKSETT, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire’s new scratch-and-sniff lottery ticket is off to a sizzling start.
The $1 bacon-scented ticket went on sale earlier this month, and sales have been surprisingly strong.
Lottery officials went with a conservative print run just in case the tickets were a bust, but they now expect to sell out within three months. Sales are far outpacing the state’s other $1 scratch tickets, some of which have been for sale for as long as eight months.
New Hampshire isn’t the first state to have a bacon-themed ticket, or the first to have a scratch-and-sniff ticket. But it’s apparently the first to combine the two.
Some who sniffed the tickets alongside actual bacon on Friday said they were surprised at the realistic scent.
