MANHATTAN, Kan.(KSNT)- At 8:30 p.m. on Friday, the Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to 801 Pottawatomie Avenue for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a one-story residential structure with smoke and fire showing on the exterior wall of the structure and a shed adjacent to the structure. The fire reached a second alarm before it was contained within 30 minutes. A total of 21 firefighters responded on 7 fire apparatus.
The residence was occupied at the time of the fire and all occupants were able to exit the structure without injury prior to the fire departments arrival. The single family structure received an estimated loss of $50,000 to the structure and $3,000 to contents. The occupants of the structure are displaced at this time. The owner is listed as Rosetta D. Meier of Great Bend, Kansas. The fire cause is under investigation at this time.
