TOPEK (KSNT) — After months of searching and working through 27 different applicants USD 437 Monday night knows who its new superintendent will be.
“I can’t be more excited about this opportunity,” said Scott McWilliams, new USD 437 Superintendent.
He’s a Kansas guy. Born and raised in Louisburg and a graduate of Kansas State University. Dr. Scott McWilliams says Kansas is all he knows. So why wouldn’t he want to work and raise his family here.
“This was a family decision. My wife and I have three little ones and so we will have an 8th grader, a 6th grader and 4th grader in the school district this upcoming school year,” said McWilliams.
He’s spent more than 20 years in education, with an impressive resume to match. So when it came to the Auburn Washburn board of education making the decision on who would replace Dr. Brenda Dietrich, the answer wasn’t hard.
“He is very well qualified. He is from a larger district than auburn Washburn. So I think he can add value on those kinds of processes and policies and practices that we maybe have not thought of,” said Dr. Brenda Dietrich, Current USD 437 Superintendent.
Now currently the executive director of human resources in the blue valley school district, McWilliams says he’s hoping his transition will be easy.
“We are going to work together as a team. We are going to base our decisions on what is in the best interest of our students,” said McWilliams.
McWilliams replaces current superintendent Dr. Dietrich in July. He is expected to take office July 1st.
