Investigation into shooing of Bald Eagle at Kansas lake

MARION COUNTY (KSNT) – Kansas game wardens are looking for the person who shot and killed a Bald Eagle at a Kansas lake.

The say that an adult Bald Eagle was shot and killed below Marion Reservoir’s dam sometime Wednesday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to call Operation Game Thief at 877-426-3843. You can remain anonymous.

KSN-TV reports Bald Eagles were removed from the federal list of threatened and endangered species on August 9, 2007 and are no longer protected under the Endangered Species Act.

However, bald eagles remain protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
