K-State Police say scam to solicit money is active again

MANHATTAN (KSNT) The K-State Police Department says the scam involving callers using “K-State Police” and “Riley County Police” to solicit money from people is active again.

According to the K-State Police Department’s Facebook page, callers claim to be K-State Police Officers and tell the potential victim they are calling to collect for past fines or owed monies. Police say they also may be using the Riley County Police Department’s name and phone number with the same message.

The Kansas State University Police Department says they do not call to collect money owed or to solicit money over the phone for past debts.

They ask anyone receiving one of these calls to not provide any personal information to the caller.
