Topeka Police investigating robbery at south Topeka Walmart

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka police shift commander says officers are at the south Topeka Walmart on reports of a possible robbery.

The call came in shortly after 8:00 Thursday morning at the Walmart located at 1301 SW 37th. Police say a black male, standing 5’8″ and wearing a white stock cap, black jacket with a possible grey t-shirt tied around his face attempted to rob the Money Center  inside.

As things progressed, the suspect demanded money from the employee and indicated he had a weapon. However, a weapon was never seen. The suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money.

Initial reports indicated that there may have been gunfire during the incident, but the Topeka Police tell KSNT News that no shots were fired.
