LENEXA (KSNT) – A baby sitting in a car that was stolen while its owner was inside a bank has been found safe.
The vehicle was stolen Monday evening from the Bank of America branch at 95th and Monrovia streets in Lenexa while its owner was making a transaction.
The five-month old baby was inside the car when it was stolen, and a quick but intensive manhunt was launched to find the infant.
Authorities say a pedestrian was hit during the carjacking but wasn’t seriously injured. One of the victim’s cellphones was in the vehicle, and police were able to track it down.
The child and car were later found at the intersection of 79th and Wornall, but the suspect has not yet been found. Police say the baby was asleep when police found the infant and the car.
